Committees

Below is a brief description of the Committees. If you wish to know more about a specific committee, please see the Chapter Organization Chart in the Documents section to find the Director over the Committee. The Director will be able to answer questions and direct you to the Committee Chair.

All Industry Day (I-Day)

Develops an annual educational seminar that focuses on property and casualty trends and current issues. The committee recognizes new CPCU designees with a conferment presentation given by an attending CPCU Society Executive or leader. The committee is made up of four sub-committees which include Program, Marketing, New Designee and Facilities:

  • Program - Finds and secures speakers for the event including the topics to be featured
  • Marketing - Handles graphic design and all promotional materials, photography and social media before and during the event
  • Facilities - Secures the venue for the event, handles check in for the event and makes sure logistics run smoothly
  • New Designee - Welcome in new designees to our chapter and share with them what opportunities we have available to engage new members

Audit

Audit chapters’ financial records annually or upon request and submit report of findings

Beyond Bloomington Connections

Organizes quarterly meetings and other activities to specifically target Peoria and Pekin area members.

Candidate Recruitment & Development

Recruits qualified candidates for the pursuit of CPCU education. This is accomplished by contacting those who have completed the associates program and encouraging those who temporarily interrupted their study to re-enroll

Careers in Insurance

Presentations to Insurance classes at the local colleges on careers in insurance. Attend career fairs to bring more students into the field of insurance.

Continuing Education

The CE committee solicits nominations from chapter members and annually awards the CPCU Excellence award  to a person who has actively supported the chapter with significant contributions over the past 24 months and is considered a strong role model for the chapter. Moreover, the CE committee submits bulk reports for individual members to report Continuing Education credits for local chapter events (lunch meetings, I-day, etc.).

Ethics

Works on Ethics Awareness Month activity, enhance ethics awareness through educational programs, presentations, and articles

Facilities

Plans and arranges locations and menus for the various chapter meetings, including lunch and dinner meetings.

Good Works

Supports the social service organizations in communities represented by the Central Illinois Chapter of CPCU. Recruit volunteer assistance to programs benefiting youth, senior citizens, and/or those in need.

Laws and History

Maintain historical records of the chapter. As required, develop by-law changes and review board activity for compliance with by-laws.

Membership Records

Focus on membership records; analyze member participation in chapter programs, events, dues renewals and conversion of new designees into paid members; report membership trends to Board.

Membership Survey

Conducts an annual member survey to gather feedback from chapter members about the level of satisfaction with the chapter and the value of chapter services. Also, handles administration of the Chapter Interest Inventory.

Networking Social

Organizes at least one networking and social event per year.

New Designee

Host the new designee dinner, encourage designees to become involved with the local chapter, and coordinate new designees conferment ceremony during the All Industry Day.

New Designee Committee Spotlight

Programs

Provide a variety of speakers and programs for the chapter, and host a recreational spouse/guest event

Reservations

Maintains membership roster and name tags. Sends out chapter meeting notices. Collects meeting fees and handles reservations for various chapter meetings.

Scholarships & Internships

Partner with local universities, community colleges, and the Institutes to promote and offer scholarship and internship opportunities to qualified students.

Student Engagement

Responsible for promoting interest & participation in the CPCU Society through mentorship activities & events.Create mentoring pair opportunities for current members and college students.

Summer Event

Plans and organizes a summer activity that is social in nature.

Symposium

Develops an annual educational seminar on contemporary industry issues and partners with the Katie School of Insurance and Risk Management at Illinois State University (ISU). Presenters include industry professionals, consultants, and ISU students and faculty

Website & Social Media

Provides access to information about events, committees, and resources for both our local chapter and national CPCU affiliates.Encourages local CPCU’s to promote the value of the CPCU designation to employers, businesses, consumers, and the general community.
