Mentoring Committee
- Purpose: to provide a forum for college students, new designees & current members to network and learn more about the Central Illinois CPCU Chapter & its Committees.
- 2 subcommittees: College Mentoring and Chapter Expo.
- College Mentoring Program matches mentors with college mentees which have an interest or focus on insurance and/or CPCU. (Students have Insurance, Actuary, Finance, or Business Background and are interested or pursuing their CPCU)
- Contacts - ISU: Katie School of Insurance & Gamma Iota Sigma Insurance Fraternity, Illinois Wesleyan, & Heartland
- 2 events; fall & spring (Social Event and Educational Event)
- Social/Networking event 2/21 with the CPCU chapter-Dinner & concert at the Center for Performing Arts. Last year the social event was at Joe’s Station House pizza
- upcoming educational event: TBA, last year we were at ISU where Joe Harr from SF spoke on the topic of Disruptive Technology in the Insurance Industry
- 12 mentor/mentee pairs currently & we are always looking for anyone interested in being a mentor (suggestions to increase mentee numbers)
- 2nd sub-committee organizes the Chapter Expo which is an annual event to showcase all the individual Central Illinois Chapter Committees, encourage everyone to join a committee and give an opportunity to discuss the College Mentoring Program.
- 2013 will mark our 12th event.
- The Expo is usually held in September as the kickoff meeting for the Chapter, we always welcome help with the planning process & meet on a monthly basis until closer to the event. (Speaker ideas? Thoughts to encourage attendance?)
- Both subcommittees are equally exciting to work on and I encourage & welcome your participation on either or both. Thank you.
